3rd Annual Holiday Concert & Tree Lighting |
|
|
On December 18th, we celebrated our 3rd Annual Holiday Concert & Tree Lighting. Despite rain in the forecast, we did not let that dampen the festivities. We had a wonderful time celebrating the upcoming holiday with the community, enjoying food, drinks, music, dance recitals, and gift distribution. The highlight of the event was the tree lighting which shined along the corridor.
One of our main objectives is to restore holiday lights to the corridor, a mission we have been pursuing for some time. Canarsie has had festive lights in the past, and we are committed to bringing them back. In the meantime, we have been able to incorporate lights into our events to brighten up Canarsie.

Classroom Door Decorating Competition Winner |
|
|
Congratulations to Class 3 216 and Mrs. Jones for winning our first Classroom Door Decorating Competition. We were impressed by the creativity, effort, and enthusiasm that went into transforming their classroom door. It is wonderful to see students work together to showcase their artistic talents. As the winners, they received a pizza party at their chosen location, Original Pizza.
This event was part of our ongoing back-to-school initiatives in the community. Through these initiatives, we hope to provide opportunities for our community to come together, celebrate our shared commitment to education, and highlight the talents and achievements of the students. We are always looking for ways to connect with the schools and get the children involved in the community. |

As we embrace the chilly weather that this season brings, we are also taking a moment to appreciate the scenery in our community. We want to see your pictures, whether it is the beautiful views from local parks or the snowy landscapes. While you are out enjoying the scenery, take some photos of the community and share them with us on social media. If you submit your pictures, you can enter to enjoy a cup of hot chocolate on us! |

Join us for our 5th Annual MLK Day of Service, an occasion dedicated to cleaning and greening our community. This year, we are focusing our efforts on the Flatlands area. Since the beginning of our beautification initiatives, we have planted over 2,000 daffodil bulbs along the corridors, transforming our neighborhood into a more vibrant and welcoming space. Our efforts have paid off as we were awarded the Greenest Block In Brooklyn winner. Through collaboration with community members, local organizations, and city officials, we envision a Canarsie that showcases its rich history, and diverse culture, making it an appealing destination for all.

Here are some pictures from the DEP Green Infrastructural Program supporting our climate challenges. The main problem is we need more greening along the commercial corridor to enhance our streetscape efforts. |

We encourage you to support local businesses by continuing to shop locally. Additionally, your support helps create local jobs and keeps money circulating within the community, ultimately benefiting everyone who lives and works there. So next time you're looking for something to buy or do, remember to think local first.
We are passionate about giving back to the community and making a positive impact for everyone to benefit from. To achieve our goals, we rely on the dedication and commitment of our volunteers. If you are interested and have a desire to make a difference, we have a wide range of volunteer opportunities waiting for you.
Currently, in our community, we are hosting a series of block meetings with the primary objective of listening and understanding the needs and concerns of local merchants. These meetings serve as an essential platform for direct engagement between our organization and the business community. By having open communication, we aim to gain valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by merchants. |
