Happy Black History Month |
|
|
Happy Black History Month! This is a time to reflect on and celebrate the contributions, achievements, and cultural heritage of Black individuals and communities throughout history. From the trailblazers in civil rights to influential artists, scientists, and thinkers, this month offers an opportunity to honor the stories that have shaped our society.
We want to hear from the community about your favorite local Black-owned businesses! Your experiences and recommendations can help shine a light on these incredible businesses and encourage others to support them. There are many ways to show support by making a video, leaving a comment, or highlighting them on a social media post. |

Due to the weather conditions, we had to postpone our 5th Annual MLK Day of Service event to a later date.
We were proud to support our community partner the Hebrew Educational Society indoor MLK Day of Service event, a meaningful day dedicated to giving back to the community. The event brought together individuals of all ages to participate in a variety of service projects aimed at making a positive impact. Through volunteering time, donating resources, or simply lending a helping hand we can all make a difference. |

The Little Free Library First Anniversary |
|
|
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating the first anniversary of The Little Free Library! Since our launch last January, we provided the community with free access to a wide range of books, available around the clock. This milestone marks just the beginning of our commitment to fostering a love of reading. As part of our ongoing literacy initiatives, we continue to explore new ways to engage with the community and encourage a passion for reading. |

Along the Rockaway Parkway Corridor, two trees were once there, but now just one remains. Our main goal is to bring more plants and trees back to the corridor.
We are encouraging everyone to still do their part in the community by cleaning and greening along the corridors. We encourage everyone to continue making a positive impact in our community by participating in cleaning and greening efforts along the corridors. This is a great opportunity to come together as a community and beautify our surroundings whether it is picking up litter, planting flowers, or simply maintaining the green spaces, every little effort counts. Make sure to stay connected with us on social media to see when our next clean-up event will take place. |

As we embrace the chilly weather that this season brings, we are also taking a moment to appreciate the scenery in our community. We want to see your pictures, whether it is the beautiful views from local parks or the snowy landscapes. While you are out enjoying the scenery, take some photos of the community and share them with us on social media. If you submit your pictures, you can enter to enjoy a cup of hot chocolate on us! |

We encourage you to support local businesses by continuing to shop locally. Additionally, your support helps create local jobs and keeps money circulating within the community, ultimately benefiting everyone who lives and works there. So next time you're looking for something to buy or do, remember to think local first.
We are passionate about giving back to the community and making a positive impact for everyone to benefit from. To achieve our goals, we rely on the dedication and commitment of our volunteers. If you are interested and have a desire to make a difference, we have a wide range of volunteer opportunities waiting for you.
Currently, in our community, we are hosting a series of block meetings with the primary objective of listening and understanding the needs and concerns of local merchants. These meetings serve as an essential platform for direct engagement between our organization and the business community. By having open communication, we aim to gain valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by merchants. |
